THE 2009 PHILIP C. JESSUP

INTERNATIONAL LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION

Royal University of Law and Economics

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

A Grant Proposal

Dear ,

We are the Cambodian Jessup Team of Royal University Law and Economics.  The five of us were just selected to represent our university through a competition judged by people with the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, the international court set up to prosecute Khmer Rouge leaders for crimes committed between 1975 and 1979.

We wish to be the first Cambodian team to join the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition; therefore, we have no National Round.  The Royal University of Law and Economics wishes us to represent both the university and the country of Cambodia in the upcoming Jessup competition.

Since the 1970s, we have endured much suffering under the Khmer Rouge and our struggles to develop as a country in the years following.  Therefore, neither the team members nor our university have adequate funds to send our team from Cambodia to Washington, DC.

We wish to know if you have any suggestions for people, law firms or other organizations that might provide funding or serve as sponsors for the entire Cambodian Team to travel to the United States and stay in DC during the competition.  Please let us know if there is anyone we can contact to help make our dream a reality.  Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

The Cambodian Team
